Competition ///

In January 2004, the magazine ARCH+ will announce an internationally open idea competition, commissioned by the project Shrinking Cities. To apply, interdisciplinary teams – for example, of architects, landscape architects, designers, artists, sociologists, and anthropologists – should be formed. These teams should submit ideas for projects for the shrinking cities of Halle/Leipzig, Manchester/Liverpool, Ivanovo, or Detroit by the end of April 2004. About 40 of these ideas will be accepted for the competition. After processing the entries from June to August 2004, the jury will name 12 prizewinning works. Each will receive 10,000 Euros for the elaboration phase.

The results of the competition will be published at the end of 2004 in a German- and English-language issue of the magazine ARCH+. In 2005, in the framework of the expanded exhibition of the project Shrinking Cities, the prizewinning projects will be presented in Leipzig and published in a book.

Current information on the internationally open competition will be available on this website beginning January 19th, 2004. If you subscribe to our Newsletter, you will receive detailed information on the competition in January.

The competition will be announced on January 19th, 2004.
